Official Calhoun County Inmate Roster
The official Calhoun County inmate roster is maintained by the Calhoun County Sheriff's Office. It is free to view and did not require a login during research. The roster runs as a searchable table, and public rows include Name, Booking Date, Sex, Race, and Hold. Each linked name can open a profile page with more custody detail.
The roster is a county jail tool. It covers people held at Calhoun County Jail, including municipal arrestees after transfer, short local sentences, pretrial detainees, and outside holds when entered. It is not the right lookup for a person already received by the Alabama Department of Corrections, a federal sentenced inmate, or an immigration detainee outside the county jail.
| Roster Field | Type | How to Use It |
|---|---|---|
| Search | Text filter | Searches the table globally and ignores case. |
| Name | Linked text | Click the name to open an inmate profile when available. |
| Booking Date | Date | Sort or search dates in YYYY-MM-DD style. |
| Sex | Text | Rows used M or F in the inspected roster. |
| Race | Text | Rows showed values such as White, Black, and Hispanic. |
| Hold | Text | May identify Anniston PD, CCSO, ICE, or another hold agency. |
| Page size | Control | Configured options include 10, 20, 50, and 100 rows. |
Use the Calhoun County Roster
A successful Calhoun County jail roster search usually starts with less information, not more. Enter the last name first, then add a first name, charge word, race, sex, booking date, or hold agency only if the result list is too broad. Because the table is searchable across columns, it can also help when the known clue is an outside agency hold rather than a name spelling.
- Open the sheriff's roster page and wait for the table to load.
- Enter the last name or another known search term in the roster search box.
- Use the column headings to sort by name, booking date, sex, race, or hold.
- Change page size if the person may be deeper in the current roster list.
- Open the linked profile for charges, bond amounts, booking date, and hold information.
- If the person is not listed, check the phone, records, court, ADOC, BOP, ICE, and VINELink channels.
The roster did not publish a refresh frequency. New bookings, bond releases, court transfers, medical movement, and transport can all create timing gaps between the real custody event and what a reader sees online.
Calhoun County Inmate Profile Fields
The inspected Calhoun County sample profile displayed sex, race, booking date, charge lines, bond amounts, and a hold-agency area. It did not expose a booking number, date of birth, age, height, weight, housing unit, court date, arresting agency, or mugshot field in text extraction. Profile details can still be useful, but they should be read as jail custody data, not a certified court disposition.
| Field | What It Shows |
|---|---|
| Name | Profile title and heading, using the inmate name from the roster link. |
| Sex | Public sex field, such as M or F. |
| Race | Race descriptor from the jail profile. |
| Booking Date | Booking date shown on the profile; research found a mismatch with a live row for one sample. |
| Charges | Numbered charge lines such as possession, burglary, or FTA. |
| Bond | Bond amount shown beside a charge when entered. |
| Hold Agency | Field or heading for another agency's hold, if any value is visible. |
Note: Jail profile charges can differ from charges later filed by prosecutors, amended in court, or dismissed by a judge.

Calhoun County Jail Lookup Channels
The online roster is only one access path. The sheriff's main office line is (256) 236-6600, and Anniston Police FAQ material references 256-236-5561 for Anniston inmates housed by the Calhoun County Sheriff's Office. In-person jail and sheriff records business routes to 400 West 8th Street, Anniston, while court filings, orders, and dispositions route to the Calhoun Circuit Clerk instead.

Request Calhoun County Booking Records
The sheriff's open-records process is the fallback when the roster does not answer a jail-record question. Requests can be sent to the sheriff's office at 400 West 8th Street, Anniston, AL 36201, by fax to (256) 237-6321, or by email to sheriff@calcoso.org. The sheriff conducts a preliminary search, reviews for lawful disclosure, identifies costs, and then retrieves, copies, redacts, and mails records after payment when disclosure is allowed.
Be specific. A useful request gives the person's name, approximate booking date, charge or case identifiers if known, and the record sought, such as jail booking record, booking photo, bond information, or hold-agency information. The sheriff's PDF lists exceptions such as juvenile material, youthful offender records, medical records, criminal-history information, unexecuted warrants, expunged records, investigative material, open cases, and records not requested for a legitimate purpose.
Calhoun Jail Records vs Court
Calhoun County jail inmate records show custody and booking information. Court records show what prosecutors file and what judges decide. After an arrest, District Criminal processes misdemeanor and felony arrest records. Felony charges can move from District Court preliminary-hearing steps to a grand jury, then into Circuit Court if indicted. The Circuit Clerk also handles expungement filings for eligible District Court and municipal records.
| Question | Start Here | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Is the person in local custody? | Sheriff roster or jail phone line | The jail controls current custody status. |
| What bond is listed? | Roster profile and court | Jail pages show bond entries; the court controls release orders. |
| What formal charges were filed? | Calhoun Circuit Clerk or Just One Look | Court filings may differ from booking charges. |
| Was the case dismissed or expunged? | Circuit Criminal Division | Disposition and expungement are court record issues. |
Calhoun County Jail Visit Records
Visitation is not a roster search, but it often confirms the correct custody system. The sheriff's visitation page states that all visits must be scheduled in advance through InmateSales.com or the jail lobby kiosk. Walk-ins are not permitted, and visitors must be approved before scheduling. Approved visitors may use remote video or kiosks, including kiosks at Anniston City Jail, 174 West 13th Street.
| Visit Channel | Scheduling | Location |
|---|---|---|
| Remote video | InmateSales.com | Visitor's internet device |
| On-site video kiosk | InmateSales.com or lobby kiosk | Jail lobby or Anniston City Jail kiosks |
| In-person or secure visit | Special Jail Administration approval | Calhoun County Jail |
Calhoun Inmate Mail and Funds
Mail, phone, and money records help confirm which facility rules apply. County jail mail is regular letter size only, must use white pre-posted envelopes, and is scanned for electronic delivery. Packages, oversized envelopes, peel-and-stick stamps, and books not sent directly from Barnes and Noble are barred under the sheriff's mail page.
Inmate accounts are created at booking. Deposits can be made through the lobby kiosk or approved online links. Legacy Commissary is the commissary vendor, and Combined Public Communications / InmateSales is the phone vendor. County deposits are not the same as ADOC state-prison deposits, so transfer to prison changes the money and phone process.
| Service | Calhoun County Jail Detail |
|---|---|
| Mail address | Inmate name, 400 West 8th Street, Anniston, AL 36201 |
| Commissary | Legacy Commissary; orders generally once weekly |
| Phone | Combined Public Communications / InmateSales |
| Funds | Lobby kiosk or approved online links for current county inmates |
ADOC After Calhoun County Jail
The Alabama Department of Corrections inmate search is the correct source after a Calhoun County case results in a state prison sentence and the person is received into ADOC. ADOC accepts an AIS number or name, limits name results to the first 50 records, and says its online search includes only current inmates. ADOC records use terms such as admit date, commit county, custody level, jail credit, minimum release date, parole status, and sentence date.
| ADOC Field | Meaning for Calhoun County Searches |
|---|---|
| AIS # | Six-digit Alabama prison number; takes precedence over name search. |
| Commit County | County where the sentence came from, useful after a Calhoun County conviction. |
| Jail Credit | County jail time credited by the sentencing county circuit clerk. |
| Custody | ADOC prison supervision level, separate from jail bond status. |
Federal ICE and VINELink
The Federal Bureau of Prisons locator searches federal inmates from 1982 to present by number or name. BOP warns that release dates may change due to sentence review or recalculation. Federal pretrial detainees may not appear in BOP if they are not yet sentenced or committed, so federal court or counsel may be needed for those cases.
The ICE Online Detainee Locator System is the official immigration locator. No separate ICE detention facility was confirmed in Calhoun County, but the county roster did show ICE in the Hold field for at least one live row. VINELink Alabama can be used for custody notification, especially when a family member needs alerts rather than a one-time roster check.
